Great move!!!!
I sold a horn last year that a number of people told me was "THE MOST AMAZING HORN THEY EVER PLAYED"!!!
It just didn't fit ME very well. Once I got over the worry I was losing my mind and sold it, I bought a new/old horn and am now more happy with my set-up than I have ben in years!!!!
There is a light at the end of this tunnel, GOOD LUCK!!!

I can't wait to hear about how it plays. And it interests me that you seek out another double horn with essentially the same wrap, even though it has subtly different playing characteristics. When I get horn fever I start looking at very different horns---an old 8D or Kruspe to go with my Geyer wrap, or a descant or a triple. Or even a Wagner Tuba, because you never know when you might need one. (Signs of the Apocalypse and all).

Felix is quite a guy. He did some fantastic work to my Conn 8D - I thought there was something VERY wrong with my horn, but 5 minutes of him playing around on it at the Southeast Horn Workshop and he figured it was the leadpipe! He rigged up one of his mouthpipes to the horn right there for me to try...a definite improvement! That summer I had him put on one of his mouthpipes, some minor dent work, cut the bell, cleaned the horn, and gave it an overall look-over. I can't say enough about his work, and the horns he is making in his little shop in Baltimore is a testament to his craftsmanship. You're going to love your new horn!

Julia - I've had my Cantesanu for awhile now (#11) and I love it. A teacher of mine has both a Rauch and a Cantesanu, and he goes back and forth between the two depending on the repetoire.

I don't think you can go wrong getting a horn from Felix!
